RFP for a Wayfinding Sign Program in Evans
May, 2010 -- EVANS
The City is issuing a Request for Qualifications and Proposal (RFQ/RFP) from qualified firms to develop a master wayfinding signage program that:
1. Guides travelers from the freeway to city-wide public facilities (parks, community
centers, points of historical interest, etc.).
2. Guides automobile travel from both the freeway and within Evans to its array of
shopping and dining destinations.
3. Establishes universal design standards for City-wide wayfinding signage that is
reflective of the City's identity.
4. Is phased in to reflect the annual budget appropriations for the City of Evans.

EnviroTech Services, Inc. of Evans, a road maintenance and safety solutions company, has expanded its Midwest operations with the opening of a new facility in Randolph, Minn., and the purchase of Dustcoating, Inc., a regional leader in dust control and soil stabilization.
With the move, the company will have the largest road treatment industry fleet in Minnesota. It also adds more than 30,000 tons of storage space for a broad range of road treatment products and services for all seasons. That includes winter de-icing/anti-icing to summer dust control/soil stabilization.

Non-Profit Organization KaBOOM! Names Evans One of 118 “Playful City USA” Communities
To ensure children in their communities are active and healthy, 118 cities and towns across the country earned recognition as 2010 Playful City USA communities despite difficult budgetary decisions and Park and Recreation department funding at its lowest levels in decades.
KaBOOM! selected Evans for its outstanding dedication to play. The City is proud of its ability to engage the community during the development of new parks and playgrounds, which has opened the door for many new concepts from the community..

Evans City Council establishes the Evans Economic Development Advisory Council.
The Evans Economic Development Advisory Council was established on June 1 by formal resolution. We are looking for up to 15 people interested in economic development in Evans. You'll meet as needed, no more than monthly, to discuss issues related to economic development. Those issues could include attraction of new businesses, how to retain and grow our existing businesses, how to create a business friendly environment, infrastructure development, incentives, hot topics, new revenue, sales tax issues and much more.
