Sheryl Trent started her work in the public sector in her home state of Washington twenty years ago. She continued in California before moving to Colorado in 2003. She has worked for cities, counties, and the private sector. Serving on the Small Business Development Center board, the Chamber of Commerce, and the ICSC Government Relations Committee, she brings a unique blend of public/private experience and a common sense attitude to economic development and the review process for development projects. Fitness, skiing, reading, and traveling are her hobbies when she has the time, and her family includes her husband, a teenage daughter and a large dog!

Jacob Freier

Jake Freier, a lifelong cartophile, is the GIS Coordinator for the City of Evans and a certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP).  Jake spent his entire youth in the Evans area before leaving for the Midwest to earn his BA and MA degrees in Geography.  After brief stints working for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Iowa Emergency Management Division, Jake returned home to work for the Weld County GIS Department.  When the Evans’ GIS Coordinator position was created in 2003, Jake applied for it and has since spent his time building the City’s enterprise GIS. In his spare time, Jake enjoys traveling, watching and participating in sports and hiking in the mountains of Colorado.

Earl Smith

Earl Smith has been the Public Works and Planning Director for Evans for 13 years. His oversight includes water, wastewater, storm water and capital projects as well as Neighborhood Services, Community Development and Economic Development. With a Civil Engineering degree from CSU and a PE, previous work included the City/County of Broomfield and Greenwood Village. When not behind his desk or out in the field, Earl can be found golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, and woodworking.

Aden Hogan, Jr.

Aden Hogan, Jr. has been the City Manager for Evans since November 2006. Aden has over 30 years of public administration experience serving in both municipalities ranging from 10,000 to 500,000 in population and in county government. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado and a bachelor’s degree in business from Mesa State College. He has also earned the Credentialed Manager Certificate from the International City/County Management Association. Aden was an assistant city manager in Oklahoma City during the response to the bombing of the A.P. Murrah Federal Building. He served as one of the co-directors of the Multi-Agency Coordination Team during the 17-day response. Aden is an adjunct professor for the University of Colorado teaching public administration, disaster management, leadership and ethics, and he is a frequent lecturer and keynote speaker across the U.S. and Canada.
